MMPAF Concert Magnificat

ARVO PÄRT: PASSIO
Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 7:30 pm

This concert has been made possible by a generous gift from Robin Henry.

The music of the extraordinary Estonian composer, Arvo Pärt, has been described as mystical, hypnotic and transcendent, earning him the label “modern mystic.” For the past five years, he has been the most performed living composer in the world. His Passio (1982), a setting of St. John’s Passion in Latin, was inspired by the austerity of medieval monophonic settings of the Passion, but infused with Pärt's individual, compelling harmonic style.

St. Bartholomew’s Choir; Jeff Morrissey (Jesus), baritone; Ryland Angel (Pilate) tenor; Jason Roberts, organ; Instrumental Ensemble; William K. Trafka, conductor.

$35 general admission; $25 students/seniors
